Our Story

Hi, I’m Brittany Bushell, owner and founder of Torch & Thorn Clothing Company, and alongside me is my daughter, Paisley, our co-founder and future entrepreneur in the making.

I’m a wife to Aaron and a mom of two, the Social Media Lead and Program Coordinator at the Automotive Sector Council of Nova Scotia, and someone who has always had a deep connection to the skilled trades industry.

Growing up, I was inspired by my father, who was a mechanic. His hard work, passion, and dedication to the trade left a lasting impact on me. After his passing five years ago, I knew I wanted to create something meaningful to honour his memory and the industry that meant so much to him.

Through my work at the Automotive Sector Council of Nova Scotia, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside and be inspired by incredible women in the trades every single day. Seeing their passion, resilience, and determination motivated me to build a brand that represents and supports them.

Torch & Thorn was created by combining three things I love: branding, social media, and the skilled trades industry. But it was also created with my daughter in mind. I wanted to show Paisley that women can build businesses, follow their passions, and create opportunities for themselves and others.

As co-founder, Paisley will be involved in every aspect of the business, from advocacy and community outreach to marketing, sales, order fulfillment, and packaging. Through Torch & Thorn, she will learn firsthand the value of hard work, dedication, and giving back to a community that inspires us.

More than just apparel, Torch & Thorn was built with purpose. Our goal is to create high-quality clothing that women in the trades can feel proud to wear while also supporting the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

A portion of proceeds from our Signature Collection goes toward supporting young women pursuing careers in the trades because we believe representation, opportunity, and support matter.
